How to choose a coffee-equipment cleaner

Separate coffee-oil cleaning, milk-system cleaning, grinder care and descaling. Match the product code and supplied pack to your machine’s instructions.

Which coffee cleaner do you need?

Choose by the equipment, residue and cleaning programme. Coffee-oil cleaning, milk-system cleaning, grinder cleaning and descaling are different tasks. Start with the exact machine’s instructions, then match the cleaner code and format to that task.

Is an espresso cleaner the same as a descaler?

No. Cafetto distinguishes coffee-oil and residue removal from the removal of mineral scale. Its EC2 product is an espresso-machine cleaning powder, while its descaling guidance addresses scale in the water-heating system. Do not treat an espresso cleaner as a substitute for a required descaling product.

Follow the machine manufacturer’s procedure and the selected product label. A cleaning schedule or dose for another machine is not a reliable instruction for your equipment.

How do milk-system cleaners differ?

Select a product intended for the relevant milk components. Cafetto publishes separate milk-system and steam-wand procedures for MFC Powder Eco. That illustrates why the application and instructions matter even when the same product serves more than one task.

Confirm the exact cleaner and the cleaning programme before buying. Use the stated rinsing procedure and do not mix chemicals.

Can you select tablets by weight or price alone?

No. Check the required cleaner code, tablet dimensions and machine recommendation together. Cafetto’s S15 guidance points users to the machine manufacturer’s instructions and gives a specific recommendation list. A similarly sized tablet or a cheaper jar does not establish equivalent suitability.

For a grinder, use the grinder manufacturer’s approved method. Do not assume that a product for a separate grinder can be added to a fully automatic coffee machine; Cafetto explicitly excludes its Grinder Clean product from that use.

What should you confirm about the supplied pack?

Record the product code, jar or sachet format, quantity and exact sales unit. Manufacturer carton quantities and reference packaging do not establish what one store order contains. Compare quotations on the same pack basis.

Keep the label, current safety information and machine instructions accessible to the people who will use the product. Ask for any missing compatibility or pack detail before ordering.
